Week 25: Perch Burgers and Miracles
Hello hello everyone!! This week was really one of my most favorites so far on my mission we saw so much success and that just brought so much joy and it was really just super amazing I'll dive right in and tell you all why it was so great!
Monday!
P-day we went to a building where we could look out and see like all of Dnepr and that was suuuppperrr cool!! I really like that! Brother Polyakov took us around and showed us the views and we really had a good time doing that!! and then we showed him how to make Funeral Potatoes! They actually turned out really good but we didn't really have a legit recipie so if anyone has a really good funeral potatoes recipie send it my way for sure!! I'd be super grateful!
Tuesday,
I was in the office all day until 5 and it was pretty uneventful there I stayed busy just not much to say about it! It was good overall! Me and Elder Crisp went to this Ukrainian restaurant for lunch and it was super yummy! It was funny because he doesn't speak and Russian and the menu was all in Ukrainian and I don't speak Ukrainian so we had to have the Waitress translate it all to me into Russian and then I had to translate that into English for Elder Crisp in the end it all worked out well and we had some yummy food in our bellies! After the office we had 2 meetings in the evening!! 2 Meetings I KNOW!! Some weeks we don't even have that many the whole week. There were with the Glushenkas first that's Zhenya's family! He's doing really well and I think he is more interested in the church that we thought at first so we are moving forward with him! Second was the Smagluks they're awesome! they made us dinner and it was super yummy! They're some of the funniest members I've met on the mission so far crack me up! They fed us this super hot salsa it destroyed my nasal system!
Wednesday,
Nothing super exciting sadly... but we still worked all day and got some things done so that was great!! A member found a license plate that I talked about one day and so now I have this super cool license plate with my last name on it in Russian super super cool! My comps ordered there own because they thought mine was so cool so I'm a trend setter!
Thursday,
Was valentines day or as I like to call it, День Любви we had interviews with president and it was such a powerful intervieew for me I learned so much it was really incredible! Then we got out on the street and had some super successful contacting! Then we had a meeting planned in center with Dennis. We were planning on meeting with him by this really yummy burger place that I've been wanting to show Elder Hansen so you know we stopped by for lunch! we were so rushed in everything cause we had no time to waste so I ordered the first burger that I saw on the list that sounded decent and I said, "Perch Burger" It was written in English and my English is so far gone that I didn't even realize I had made a mistake. I forgot the word Perch and what it meant and that was the first mistake. I didn't even realize until they bring out this disgrace of what they call a "burger" with this huge ole fish. I thought there must have been a mistake something not right it was that moment I realized that Perch is a fish not a method of how you cook beef! It was pretty disappointing but only in myself because it was no one elses fault. Met with Dennis that was really good then later we picked up Elder Gerrat for an exchange!
Friday
On Friday this week we had the opportunity of doing a Book of Mormon table with a member and that was really cool! There was this one young boy maybe 16 that I gave a book of Mormon that was maybe the most excited person I've ever seen be given the book of mormon he ran off and showed all of his friends lifting the book above his head saying THE WORD OF GOD!! it was super cool! The member that came with us spoke about the experience in sacrament this sunday and it really has got the branch so excited about helping us out more in the work!! Now we have an activity scheduled for the branch called, "Contacting with the missionaries." we are stoked about that!
All this week the Lord was just putting people in our path is was super amazing!! we met a less active member I haven't ever seen before in the grocery store one night. A man on the street we've been searching for trying to meet for weeks! I know the Lord is with us in his work
Saturday meetings feel through it was a tough day of work but we pushed through to the end and we saw miracles!!
Sunday, this referral from a branch in Nigeria his name is Nicholas came to church his brother is a member and he's a pretty religious guy and anyway he came and it was super wonderful!! He really liked the meeting and after we gave him the resto and he really understood it and what it would mean for him! We testified strongly that it can bless his life and that he can pray to know the truth for himself and it was so strong he said he would read and pray about it! I'm super excited about him he is sooo prepared!!
That's about it from this week! I want to just close and say that I know the Lord loves us! He is here with us he rejoices with us when we are happen and comforts us when we are sad! He desires our happiness and he has given us the way that we can travel to come back to live with him again where we can ultimately live happily forever! That is our message and I know it's true!!
Love you all!
