Week 4 Reading Socks

Another week down at the MTC!! It's super awesome but all the days kind of melt together and everything goes really fast so when P-days hit it's always a challenge to remember what happened and what stories I can or was planning on sharing with everyone but I always seem to get through it so here it goes..

We had the opportunity again to go to the temple! Which is one of my favorite moments of the week! One thing that makes it so special is because our P-day is on wednesday and our temple time starts at 12:30 we always go to the temple when the weeks incoming missionaries are taking pictures with their families in front of the temple and saying there goodbyes! Sometimes we see people who we know and if we don't it's always so great anyway! Because it reminds us of the love we have for our families and that this gospel is here to bless us and the gospel in the home really strengthens those family relationships and is so amazing and that's a message I am excited to share with the people of Ukraine!

This week we had to run over to the pharmacy because one of my companions had been sick and needed to get some cold medicine. So we walked out of the gate at the MTC and marched down to the pharmacy we were out in the real world where there are real people and it was super weird even though we've only been in the MTC for 4 weeks but at the same time it was so cool! It was refreshing to just be outside and have those real interactions!! I'd love to tell you some crazy story about how we talked to someone about the church and bore our testimonies but that didn't really happen but I was so excited to be able to see some people and at least say hi as they walked past or wave whatever it was I was just so happy to do it! There will be some pictures from our adventure to the outside that I'll have to share with you as well!

One thing about the MTC I really love as well is the opportunity that we have to sing in the MTC choir every week. We have practice Sunday and Tuesday evenings and about half of the missionaries in the MTC come which would make our choir about 1,100 missionaries. It's powerful and so amazing I can hardly even explain it. I enjoy it so much and Brother Eggott who lead's us is an inspired man.

The past little while they have been talking about how there will be opportunities to sing in conference extended to the missionaries but not everyone will be able to go because we have this huge choir and the seats in the conference center can only fit about 350 so a lot of people will not be able to sing in conference. This week they gave letters to everyone who they chose to sing in choir and me and my companions got letters and we will be singing in General Conference!!! I'm so excited for this opportunity I know it's one that I will never be able to have again and I'm so happy to be able to go! We're all stoked about it but it still hasn't totally hit us yet!! So cool I am stoked.

My district is super tight and we get along really well we've grown so close over the weeks that we've been here and we all care about each other a lot. We also have a lot of fun moments and laugh together a lot so there are always a few stories each day of something funny that happened or a good moment that we had and I thought I'd just share one of those from this week.
So the other day we were have a Book of Mormon read for a half hour as a district and as we're all getting out our scriptures, Elder Baggaley starts to read one of the verses and Sister Aalto said, "WAIT WAIT, I need to put my reading socks on." She then proceeded to pull out these way colorful socks and put them on and we all couldn't help but laugh it was too funny I was cracking up. Maybe we all need to get some reading socks.

One thought that stood out to me this week was the importance of living close to the spirit! As missionaries we are unable to do the Lord's work and what he asks of us if we do not have the spirit with us. We are unable. If the spirit is that important in the Lord's work and so critical to the progression of others, How important is it to have that same spirit ever present in your life? The spirit is a powerful tool and a powerful gift that God has given us! We should do all that we can to live close to the spirit and have it in our lives!
