Week 29: We've got ourselves a body-guard
Hello everybody! How are you all doing? What's new?
We had a good week this week it was kind of a roller coaster but we got things done so we can't complain!
Tuesday we had our first lesson with Tatyana who we found last week! It was super amazing!! We were able to get some members with us on the lesson and they killed it! I was so proud of them it was really powerful we talked about the Restoration and how the gospel is such a blessing in our lives as we live it! And how it blesses our families too! She really enjoyed it and really wanted to continue meeting she didn't make it to church this week but we have a return appointment already set up and I think she should make it next week to church.
That evening was English practice and we had 22 people there that was a really good number for here! Our practice seems to be growing pretty well!
Wednesday we met this guy on the street name Vladimir and had a really good conversation with him. He is an older man and kinda had a cruel outlook on other people and kind of the world in general which is too bad but we really talked with him for a while and helped to lift him up! He was sad to say goodbye to us on the street but good news is we got his contact and we'll see him again and start teaching him!
Thursday we were out contacting on the street and we got a little bit lost out in the villages. In Ukraine each city has kinda like the middle center where everyone is there's lots of homes and stores and stuff and then as you get further and further outside the city there are just little houses and that's about it and this is where we were. It's actually really peaceful and cute out there because there's not all the crazy and busyness there just aren't as many people... So we were out in boonies and then I was just kinda walking and said to Elder Pedersen it would be cool if we had like a service opportunity like maybe if we could garden or help someone. Then not 10 minutes later a member calls on the phone and tells us that there are this people by her work who need some help with some digging in their flowerbeds!! Haha it was crazy and so timely haha. We were happy to help and have that kind of opportunity!
Later Thursday we had a good lesson with Constantine on the Word of Wisdom and he was pretty accepting about it but he also came to us with the bad news that he is actually moving to Poland for 3 months so that was just a downer for sure.
Friday We met with the Suhoy family. They're really awesome it was great to be over there and we had a really powerful lesson and they asked us to come back again and start trying to teach their Grandmother that also lives there so that was really cool! We will see how that goes we have a meeting set for today (monday). Her name is Galina.
After that we went with the other Elder's to this main street and did some English Contacting which went pretty well! I think this Tuesday we should have a bunch more people show up to the practice! We also met this man that kinda pledged to protect us if anything happens or anyone is mean to us. haha We've got like an on-call guard now or something.
Saturday was a pretty good day! We got on the work early and did a lot of contacting then post lunch it just dumped rain on us. and I mean DUMPED and we also got lost looking for this members house we were in the neighborhood and we wanted to just stop visit give a little gift and thought. Which we eventually did but it entailed about 1 1\2 hours of walking in the rain... I'm just glad I'm not sick! We didn't have hoods or hats either haha and my jackets still wet but hey I had a good time!
Sunday was a really good day! Great sacrament meeting we were able to visit this Sister and bring her the sacrament she has some difficulties so she isn't able to make it often times to church. Neither Constantine or Tatyana made it to church so that was rough but we still have hope for them!
I am becoming quite the cook this week I made tacos without taco seasoning and it was actually successful! We got some peanut butter and nutella in a package! (THANK YOU MOM) but we didn't have any bread so I made bread! haha it was crazy I don't know where these skills were hiding haha.
Spiritual thought of the week! I want to share this quote from a talk Elder Uchtdorf called, "A Summer with Great-Aunt Rose"
“With such a glorious future why get swallowed up in past or present things that don’t go quite the way we planned?”
This quote hit me this week and was super meaningful! I think in life we all have many things that don't quite work out don't go how we imagined maybe we made past mistakes, whatever it might be! We know we don't need to let the past hold us back. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ we can become better we can live in Eternal happiness! There are great things down the road for all of us! As we live happy now and do our very best we can find joy in any circumstance and it all starts with our outlook and our attitude!
Love you all so much!
