Week 34: He is Risen!
Hello Hello everyone!! I hope Easter was super amazing. Here Easter is celebrated next week so I'll get double Easter!
It was a very eventful and busy week that is for sure! I'll kind of give you a little bit of the run down of what happened!
So of course as I said last week I found out that I would be training so I of course I had to go pick up this brand new companion of mine in Dnepr! So Monday evening we got on a little bus down to Odessa and then from there took a big ole train to Dnepr over night! Got there in the morning and then I went to my old area POBEDA!
That was really cool to be back there with the trio even for just a few hours and see it all with green and leaves on the trees and all pretty looking! I did however forget to take pictures so sorry about that.
Wednesday we had train the trainers which is exactly what it sounds like and that was a very good meeting! I felt like I learned so much and got very excited for this opportunity to train! Later that evening we went tracting in the apartment buildings right next to the branch buildings and that was crazy. Since they're right next to the branch I think they have been contacted many many times and so some people just let us know very loudly that they were still not interested, haha but at the same time others were very happy to see us! It was a fun time all in all.
Thursday was the day we all found out who are new companions would be and who would be training and my trainee is Elder Trounce!! He's great! He's from Sandy, Utah and went to Jordan High School so not far away at all! He played tennis in high school his senior year. He graduated the same year as me in High School and he's actually 7 days older than me! His Russian is already way better than mine was and he came all packed up and ready to work so that's awesome!!
We went on our first contacting session like within an hour of him getting to Dnepr after all the travel and it was so great!! So many miracles so many prepared people! Of course we gave all those contacts and people we found to missionaries in the city but it's still so great to find them and get to be apart of the teaching process even in a way.
Thursday night was the long dreaded bus ride all the way from Dnepr to Odessa. It was something else haha. It was very... very... bumpy haha but it just made us more happy to be in Nikolaev finally when we got out Friday morning.
Now friday morning Elder Trounce has yet to really sleep in a bed for like 3 consecutive nights but as his trainer I of course couldn't just let him take it easy so we hit the streets contacting, had a lesson, a family night and then finished hard with some more contacting!! Lets just say that Elder Trounce slept very well.
Saturday was a bunch of contacting we had a lesson with Tatyana fall through which was super sad! The Andersons came up to nikolaev for a youth activity that went pretty well! We played Chirades (I have no idea how that's spelled) in Russian it was very difficult but everyone else seemed to really enjoy it haha.
Sunday was our special Easter Sacrament meeting and it went very well!! We had about 9 not yet members come! 2 of which just showed up out of nowhere never seen them before and then also 4 less active members! That was super wonderful!!
Everything is going very well for us here in Nikolaev!! We are so happy to be about the Lord's work!
I wanted to this week in light of Easter just talk about the Atonement.
Alma 7:11
And he shall go forth, suffering pains and aafflictions andbtemptations of every kind; and this that the word might befulfilled which saith he will ctake upon him the pains and thesicknesses of his people.
Our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ suffered all things for us. He's decended below all things, he knows our trials and hardships. Because he has suffered all these things he knows us perfectly and knows how to succor us. I want to bear my testimony that I know Jesus Christ is our Savior I know that he suffered and died for us so that we might live again I know that in him we can find peace! He loves us and wants us to be happy!
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter Holiday!
