Week 32: Duck Bellies and Drunk Fellas

Hello Everybody!!

I'm so happy I get to write you all and tell you how I'm doing like this each week!! I'd also would always always love to hear from you and what you've got going on that you are excited about!!

This week was a really fast one it was super crazy!

I'm not even totally sure where to start I'll just try and go through not leaving anything out!

On monday we had planned a lesson with this woman we are teaching Tatyana she's absolutely awesome! She's the happiest person I have ever met. But this week she got sick so she couldn't meet and it was so sad hearing here usually happy self sick and miserable. We are hoping she get better soon so we can keep teaching her!

Tuesday was pretty good! We had a lesson with Galina and those are always really good and really powerful. Right now she realizes it's all so important she knows it is all true we just can't seem to figure out what is holding her back! She's so ready she just needs to commit to a date and she'll be baptized! Later we had English practice and we gave a Book of Mormon to this girl Darina! She was super excited about it and we gave her a section to read and she started reading right there!

Wednesday we had a lesson with Darina!! It was awesome we kinda just talked more about what we do as missionaries and talked about the Restoration of the Church! She had read more of the Book of Mormon and really felt like she had felt the spirit on the spiritual thought that we did in English Practice. That was super exciting we also taught a lesson to Vladimir this older man. He's really great. He has like 500 stories though and is more interested in sharing some story instead of listen to what we are trying to tell him!! haha

On Thursday we had another lesson with Galina and this time we came prepared with some really good "parables" I guess you could say. I think because me and Elder Pedersen have been teaching so often we have really developed the way we teach and we are always using examples and stuff. So we shared the parable of the "Way nice bike," "Delicious Borsch," and "The 'best pizza.'" That night we had Family Home Evening and it went very well! Darina came along with a few other people we are teaching!!

Friday we went on an exchange I was with Elder Croxall and it was a blast! We found a bunch of new people and one really super promising! For lunch Elder Croxall wanted just straight bread and so that is what we ate haha. (Side note: I had often heard that eating bread was bad for ducks because they always eat more then they should and then the bread expands in their stomachs and bad things can happen. Before I had just taken this 'fact' and said sure makes sense but now I fully understand... After eating A LOT of bread I began to understand the expanding effect. I'm doing fine no worries just thought I would throw that out there for you all! It was very good bread...)(I will also add the ducks in this country our very very large compared to our ducks. Like our goose is their duck.) Later that night we went contacting as a district on the main street and that was super successful! Super fun too!

Saturday morning we started on the soccer field 6:55a.m. and I got whooped Elder Pedersen can play and I cannot haha. All of our potential appointments fell through so we were out and about contacting. We had some invitations we wanted to go and give to some less active members. It didn't go the best. We either have a bunch of fake addresses or there are like 2 cities called Nikolaev in Ukraine. We were contacting in this market sort of. We actually were just walking through because we can't really contact there and this guy actually stopped us and now wants to meet so that was awesome!! We later kept walking and then the market turned into this pet market. Just random people out on the street selling dogs and cats and other animals right next to other people selling fruits and veggies haha. It was funny to me but they were all super cute at the same time!!

Sunday was an adventure in the morning. We walk over to the branch building to get ready for church and infront of the building is the drunkest man I have ever seen in my life!! Oh man hahah. That poor guy. He ended up holding on to us to stay standing and then later into the church building and then shortly after that onto the ground then we got him in a chair and then he started saying bad words so we got him outside again and on his way. I have a new view on just how bad alcohol can be now than ever before haha. Poor man was having a rough time. After Church there just happened to be a man standing in front of the church building reading the sign and we talked to him and now we have a meeting with him it was awesome!! Leonid is his name!

The work is going well!! I'm loving being a missionary and finding so much joy and happiness in the work!!

I would encourage all of you to continue to glean from the words of our Leaders spoken on general conference! Continue to study those words! I love what Sister Craven shared about not being casual about the gospel. Let be thankful and realize the divinity of their words and the blessing they will be in our lives as we hearken to them and follow.
