Week 66: Снег
Alright everybody buckle up we've got a lot to cover here.
We began teaching a new brother this week, Aleksei. He came to English practice for the first time on tuesday and on Thursday we had our first lesson with him. It went well. He likes the atmosphere and felt the spirit. He has a testimony of God, we think that he wants to become a member of the church because he feels that it will help him get to America so we are working with him and his testimony moving forward. Trying to help him gain a more correct understanding. He also came to church.
We had another lesson with David and Lyubov this week which went really well! Teaching them has really taught me about the importance of working with members! Which is interesting because we teach them by skype. But I'll explain why. The Sinenko family lives in Makeyevka by Donetsk and Brother Sinenko is the group leader there. David and Lyubov come to church on Sunday and then after have lessons with us. The Sinenko family has been there to support all the way. They call and remind them to come to church. They're there on lessons, they're involved in their lives. Here in Dnipro we have President Cheban with us participating in the teaching. He also knows them and understands their needs. They have such a great system of love and support! If this is something that can happen with us the missionaries hundreds of kilometers away, it should be something we can do here in our branches as well! We challenged them to be baptized and they accepted! They chose a date a little far away in February. We aren't totally sure why, but President Cheban is going to be in their group soon and will discuss with them a sooner date! But we are really excited for them!!
New missionaries
So like we've already been over the first week of the transfer and it's filled chuck full with all the meetings any missionary could ever hope for Haha. We had Train the Trainers, Airport, Missionary Welcome, and Orientation -the whole shebang. We also added in a meeting for all young missionary leaders in the mission which was really good as well! So a lot of our time this week was spent in those different meetings but even that being said we got a whole lot done on the other days as well!
First Snow
We got the first snow of the year. It was pretty and then it got a little warmer again and melted so now we're back to strange winter. There is, however, an ice rink by the main square, so that's pretty cool.
Big plans
There is a little city that is about an hour away from Dnipro and there live about 8 members of the church and were are trying to organize a trip on over there because we want to have a sweet little Pavlograd group. To add to the excitement we also met a man on the street who has family that live in the city and he invited us to come over to do a lesson. It's just plans right now but I'm talking building the kingdom people starting a group Haha we will see. Right now it's just dreams.
PEOPLE
This week we really made an emphasis to get in contact with those in our area Book that we have been teaching in the past. Some of the people called and reached out to us this week like Nikolai while others we called and set up meetings with. It's amazing to me to see how the Lord has been working with these people as we haven't been meeting with them for the past month or two. One of these people was Dima, who me and Elder Rasmussen taught. He came to Alla's baptism but then got really busy afterwards and we hadn't been in contact with him. We met with him this week and learned that he has been reading the Book of Mormon and feels that it is true! We challenged him to Baptism and he accepted. He came to church and is progressing well! Nikolai also came to church as we invited him! He really enjoys the environment but still struggles to see the necessity.
